How is the process working out in Louisiana for the new Affordable Care Act?
The enrollment period for the new health insurance exchanges created by the Affordable Care Act started in October. How is the process working out in Louisiana? Who is eligible for coverage? Which providers are offering insurance plans and how much do they cost? And who will still be left uninsured? Louisiana Public Square brings together a panel of experts to for "Exploring Louisiana's Insurance Exchange" Wednesday, November 27 at 7 p.m. on LPB HD.
1. Are you, yourself, now covered by any form of health insurance or health plan or are you not covered at this time? A health plan would include any private insurance plan through your employer or a plan that you purchased yourself, as well as a government program like Medicare or Medicaid.
2. As you may know, a health reform bill was signed into law in 2010. Given what you know about the health reform law, do you have a generally favorable or generally unfavorable opinion of it?

5. Thinking about the problems people have reported experiencing with the new federal health care exchange website, which of the following statements comes closer to your point of view?
6. Governor Bobby Jindal opted not to offer a state-based exchange for uninsured residents to purchase health insurance. As a result, Louisiana residents have to purchase insurance from a federal exchange. Overall, would you say you agree or disagree with Governor Jindal’s decision not to offer a state-based exchange?
7. Do you think that the 2010 health care law will make it more difficult or less difficult for uninsured Louisiana residents to purchase health insurance?
8. Due to the 2010 Healthcare Law - Do you think Louisiana residents overall will have to pay more for their health insurance, pay less for health insurance, or would you say it won’t make much difference?
