How is Louisiana addressing its dropout problem?
In 2012, Louisiana’s graduation rate reached an all-time high of 72%, but there still is a lot of work to do. The three largest parishes in the state: Caddo, East Baton Rouge and Orleans continue to have high dropout rates and twenty parishes saw an increase in their dropout numbers last year. So, how is Louisiana addressing its dropout problem? What programs are available to keep students in school? How effective are they? And how early should you intervene? Louisiana Public Square brings together educators and community activists to look for answers to the state’s dropout dilemma on “Destination: Graduation” Wednesday, November 26 at 7 p.m. on LPB HD.
