The Lesson Study SIG will promote research and practice of lesson study, a form of professional development that is conducted around the world. The SIG will attract an expanded international presence at AERA annual meetings; will draw together researchers and practitioners; and will contribute to the research base for this content-rich, long-term, collaborative form of professional development. Lesson study is conducted in science and mathematics, and increasingly in other subject areas and at all levels of schooling. Because lesson study is used in so many different educational settings and countries, it has the potential to increase membership and attendance at AERA.
