National Conference Call for Presentations Overview and Instructions

Keep America Beautiful is seeking dynamic presentations that inform community leaders about proven practices, innovative programs, and motivate the pursuit of excellence. The Keep America Beautiful Annual Conference will be held February 3-6, 2014 at the Westin Charlotte, 601 South College Street, Charlotte, North Carolina 28202. Approximately 400 attendees will participate in general and concurrent sessions. Attendees include affiliate directors and board members, government, business, civic, community and youth leaders working toward the KAB mission to “engage individuals to take greater responsibility in improving their community environments.”

We would like to extend an invitation to interested parties to submit an application to present a concurrent session at the conference in your area of expertise. Please submit by September 15, 2013.

WHO SHOULD CONSIDER SUBMITTING PROPOSALS?
• Affiliate professionals and board members
• Community Leaders – board members, elected and appointed officials
• Government professionals - Park and recreation, solid waste, planning, management
• Business leaders
• NGO representatives
• University/college professors and educators
• University/college students
• Vendors, contractors and related groups
• Professional speakers
• Anyone else interested in sharing their knowledge with Keep America Beautiful community leaders

PROCEDURES AND GUIDELINES:
* Proposal applications must be received by September 15, 2013. If your proposal is selected for the conference, you will be contacted by mid-September.

*Types of conference presentations may include lecture, hands-on demonstrations, roundtable sharing, or poster sessions. Poster sessions could include displays of any of the following:

 Research Papers - Completed research papers in any of the topic areas listed above or related areas.

 Student Papers - Research done by students in any of the topic areas listed above, or related areas.

 Case Studies - Case studies in any of the topic areas listed above, or related areas.

You my also select Webinar to be considered for a 2014 Webinar separate from conference.

*Selection Criteria: The Training Committee including KAB staff, state leaders, affiliates, and sponsors will review proposals. KAB seeks to fulfill the educational needs of our diverse audience by creating a balanced program that is comprehensive and reflects a multitude of perspectives. Conference presentations and webinars are limited to one hour. We will select sessions based on their contribution to the following criteria:
 Overall quality of the proposal
 Focused and well-defined topic
 Timeliness of topic
 Practical application of material
 Presentation skill of the proposed speaker(s)
 Applicability to a national audience
 Relevance to the affiliate profession and community needs
