The Washington Growers League is assessing the needs and options for agricultural employers with regard to supervised care for children and youth. Our goal is to provide more supervised child care which we believe can:
1) Give families and employers another option to keep underage children and non-employed youth away from work sites;
2) Reduce or eliminate injuries to children due to their presence in the workplace;
3) Help employers avoid jeopardy under the child labor laws when underage children are brought to the work site;
4) Allow more parents to work, and work more hours.
In addition, we anticipate that improving the available resources and options will ultimately better serve the needs of children and youth.
Directions: Please answer the following questions. Your responses will help us to identify some of the current trends with regard to needed services for child care for those under age 6 and supervised activities and services for youth ages 6 -14 (or older in some cases).
Please give the most accurate answer possible. Your answer should be based on what you actually know or strongly suspect, not on what you hope your employees are doing. If you don't know the answer, do not answer the question. Thank you!
