Last year, more than 1,000 people took the Owosso Main Street Top Prospect Survey to help us gauge progress and identify possible business expansion and recruitment opportunities. Now, as downtown recovers from the pandemic and we look ahead, we need your help to profile the types of eating and drinking places and retail establishments that could be prime for expansion and recruitment to serve you better.

Other options and features might include a lunch menu, vegetarian and vegan selections, specialty cocktail and beverage options, and outdoor seating.

Casual Dining Eatery
Different concepts might incorporate a variety of fresh menu selections such as specialty soups, salads, bakery items, sandwiches on freshly made breads, pasta dishes, and seasonal and locally sourced specialties.

Wood Fired Pizza and Grill
Wood fired brick oven pizza with a wide variety of crust, sauce and topping options might be the main attraction of this establishment that could also feature pasta dishes, paninis, steak and seafood specialties, and other Italian-inspired favorites.

Ethnic Specialty Restaurant
A casual or upscale restaurant and dining experience featuring specialty dishes of a particular people-group, region, or culture with healthy food options and take-out options.

Different concepts and options might include a co-op structure and variety of organic and locally-sourced food choices; artisan products such as breads, fruit, meats and cheeses; bakery, deli, wine & spirits and floral departments; and online ordering, delivery and pick up options.

Woman’s Clothing Store
Women’s clothing and accessories options could include clothing, fashions ranging from casual to dress or business attire, plus-size fashions, maternity wear, bridal and formal wear and activewear, lingerie, along with various lines of dress and casual shoes, fashion accessories, handbags, cosmetics, fragrances and in-house alterations.

Mercantile/Variety Store
Possibilities for this “small box” concept might borrow on the 5 & Dime model with an eclectic assortment of household goods, home pharmacy items, general crafting, office and school supplies, clothing and home furnishing basics, greeting cards, gifts and novelty items, and staple grocery, candy and snack items.

Arts, Crafts and Hobby Shop
Offerings could include: artist supplies; general crafts and supplies; floral; children’s educational & activity kits; games and party accessories; home decor items; picture frames and framing services; paper goods and card stocks; yarn, patterns and other sewing and needlework supplies; hobby and craft tools; and craft/hobby classes.

Jewelry Store
Options could include a range of costume, fashion, boutique and fine jewelry selections, along with gemstone and precious metals, watches, and other items typically found in a full-range jewelry boutique. Complementary services might include watch and jewelry repair, polishing and cleaning and custom-designed jewelry.
