Transit to Trails

A project of the Piedmont Triad Regional Transportation Demand Management Initiative

The Piedmont Triad Regional Transportation Demand Management Initiative is designed to bring government agencies, private sector, and non-profit groups together to promote and support non-single occupancy vehicle travel. Currently there are 20 participating organizations, represented by 58 individuals.
This year the group included in its work program the development of a Transit to Trials online interactive map. The purpose of the map is to provide examples of how to access trails and parks in the region by using one of the six public transportation systems operating in the Piedmont Triad. The map will be located on a web site called RidetheTriad.org. RidetheTriad.org is a regional resource for information on public transportation, bike and pedestrian infrastructure, vanpools and carpools, and passenger rail.
You have been provided a link (insert link) to the Transit to Trails test site. At this point, the look and feel of the site is how we envision it being. However, currently only trails and parks in Greensboro and Winston-Salem are included. Other parts of the Piedmont Triad will be included in the final site.
The map is designed to illustrate opportunities for using public transportation that most people don't think about, promote regional travel, and address transportation inequities in the Piedmont Triad. The interactive tool provides specific directions for accessing a trail or park by public transportation and information about the trail.
We ask that you explore the map’s functionality. All comments and critiques are welcome.
Please complete the questionnaire by January 19th.
