Handsworth Primary Children's Survey about Playtime (Baseline)

This survey is for the whole class to inform your school’s Play Policy. It is about the children’s experience of play at lunchtime and breaktimes at school.

Teachers - please ask the children in your class to complete this survey. They can ask you or their friends to explain the questions. If they would prefer to draw a picture, or write an answer in a different way, please take a photo and email it to: opal@outdoorpeople.org.uk. If you want to ask these as a full class there is a template to complete in your OPAL pack.
1.What year are you in?
2.Are you a girl or a boy?
3.At playtimes do all the adults say the same things about what you can and can't do?
[Example: do some people say you can jump in puddles and some people say stop? Or do they all say the same?]
4.Can you play on grass or in bushes every day?
5.Are there places around the playground where you want to play but aren’t allowed?
6.Are there lots of places for you and your friends to sit at playtimes?
7.If you want to build something is there lots of stuff around for you to use? [to make dens, theatres, go carts, cooking]
8.Do the adults at playtime stop you playing what you want to?
9.If you hurt yourself or feel scared at playtime do the adults in the playground help you?
10.Do you really enjoy playtimes?
11.Which do you like doing best at playtime?
12.What would you dream of having in the playground?
Thanks for completing this survey. It will help us to make playtimes better at school! If you would like to draw a picture or write more about the changes you would like to see at playtimes, please give this to your teacher.
