Introduction

I hope this finds you well. The government has passed new laws to make building owners and residents take steps to make sure their buildings and homes are safe. One of these is the 2022 Building Safety Act, aimed at controlling and reducing the risk to residents and buildings in the event of a fire. Pinnacle Housing places the highest importance on fire safety and we’re committed to working in partnership with residents to ensure they feel safe, and the risk of fire to them and their homes is reduced to the lowest possible level.
The Building Safety Act covers buildings that are seven storeys or higher, meaning Cherry Tree, Conifer and Poplar House are covered. Over the next six months, we’re going to be rolling out a programme of engagement activities for residents including newsletters, focus groups, training opportunities and drop ins, making sure every resident has the opportunity to guide and understand how fire safety is managed where they live.
The aims of our engagement programme are listed below, followed by a short survey to help us build a picture of residents feelings towards and understanding of fire safety in their building.
Aims of the Programme:
• Residents will feel safe from the risk of fire in their homes and buildings
• Residents will understand how fire safety is managed where they live
• Residents will understand their roles and responsibilities in fire safety as well as those of Pinnacle, Higgins, Rydon and Lewisham Council
• Residents will know what to do in the event of a fire
• Residents will have their voices heard, supported to play an active role in fire safety within their building
• Residents will know how to raise fire safety concerns
• Residents will select the fire safety information they would like to receive and how they would like to receive it
Thank you for taking the time to read this introduction and fill out the survey. We will also send this out via text and email, please fill it out once in which ever method you’re most comfortable.
