The 2021 Surf Coast Shire Council Youth Awards are an opportunity to celebrate young people and their contributions and achievements within the areas of Arts, Community, Environment and Sport across our rural townships and regional community hubs.
Nominations can take place for any contributions or achievements by young people from the beginning of 2020 until now.
The Annual Surf Coast Youth Awards aims are:
• To recognise young peoples’ diverse range of personal and community achievements.
• To showcase and value the skills and attributes of young people in the community.
• To reward young people for their achievements and potential.
• For the community to acknowledge the abilities and capabilities of young people within the Surf Coast community.
Award Categories:
Arts
The Arts Award recognises young people who have made a significant contribution to the arts community or can showcase their individual creative talents through music, drama, dance, writing or visual arts.
Community
The Community Award recognises young people who actively participate in their community and have made a valuable contribution that improves and enhances community well-being. This can be evident through volunteering, community service or leadership.
Environment
The Environment Award recognises young people who have made a significant contribution to improving the health of the environment through actions and advocating in environmental matters in either a leadership or volunteer position.
Sport
The Sports Award recognises young people who have made a significant contribution to the sporting community or young people who are described as dedicated, motivated and committed and have demonstrated sporting capability and success in their individual or club/team pursuits.
The Process and Criteria for nomination:
All young people nominated for the Surf Coast Shire Youth Award must be between the ages of 12 and 25 years of age.
The young person nominated must live, work, study or recreate in the Surf Coast Shire.
In order to be considered for the Award, a nomination form must be completed entirely and returned by the due date.
Any nomination outside of this scope will not be considered by the judging panel
A young person can either nominate themselves, or be nominated by someone else (consent must be obtained if applying on behalf of someone else).
A nominee can be nominated for more than one award.
Groups of young people are welcomed to be nominated. Eg band, community group, group art project, sporting team.
The judging panels decision is final and can not be disputed in any way.
Nominees will be assessed based on the information provided in the nomination form. As a result, it is important to include as much detail as possible in the form.

Nominations open Friday 7 May 2021 and close Sunday 30 May.
The award ceremony will be held on Saturday 26 June 2021 in the new Wurdi Baieer Stadium.
