Men and Close Relationships Study

I am invited to participate in a research project conducted through Indiana State University (ISU) and Wichita State University (WSU). The following information is provided to help me make an informed decision whether or not to participate.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the nature of the relationship between me and the female individual with whom I am closest and my opinions about religion and men. Some questions will ask about personality traits and spiritual beliefs, and others will ask about the frequency, diversity, and strength of my closest cross-sex relationship. This study should take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete. If I choose to participate, the extent of my involvement with this study will not need to extend beyond the single set of questions I am given. I am strongly encouraged to answer every item and to ask questions regarding items I do not understand, but I retain the right to not answer any item I choose. I can simply follow the online screen prompts to complete the study.
Some of the questions in this survey involve personal questions regarding a close relationship and will stimulate examination or reflection of this relationship. I may benefit through increased awareness of my male gender role, religious beliefs, and interaction in a close relationship. I also have an opportunity to contribute to the body of research examining male role, spirituality, and behavioral closeness. If I fear that this will cause significant discomfort or that other distress may occur, I may choose to cease my participation at any time without any penalty or prejudice. If I experience any discomfort, I understand I may contact the Wichita State Counseling Center at 316-978-3440 or the Indiana State Counseling Center at 812-237-3939.
I will receive an opportunity to participate in a researcher-funded lottery. To protect my privacy, all information that I provide in this survey for the purposes of the lottery is not tied to personally identifying information. Information obtained during this study which could identify me is not connected to lottery results in any way. The results of this study may be published in an academic journal, presented at a scholarly conference, or used as part of a data set for future study. I will only be directly contacted in the future if I have contacted the investigator or I have won the lottery related to the study. Winners of the lottery should reply to the email and then delete the original email.
I understand that participation is completely voluntary. I am free to withdraw from participation at any time or to choose not to participate at all by clicking on "Exit this Survey" in the upper right corner of the screen, and by doing so, I will not be penalized or lose benefits to which I am otherwise entitled. I understand that the investigators will answer any questions that I have about my participation.
