How to Copy, Move, Delete Questions & Pages (Deleting page moves questions!)
It's a snap to copy, move, and delete questions and pages! | On this page: | | - Moving pages/questions
- Adding page breaks
- Deleting pages
- Copying pages/questions
- Deleting questions
- Restoring questions
| | | To Move Pages and/or Questions | | Click the [Move] button above the question. This populates [Move Question Here] buttons throughout the pages of your survey. (You'll need to select to 'view all pages' to see all of the pages of your survey.) Click the [Move Question Here] button to relocate the question to the new placement in the survey. |
| Follow the same steps to move pages and copy questions and pages to a new location. |
 | To Add a Page Break | | Click [Add Page Before] to add a page before the current questions on the page. Click [Add Page After] to add the page break after the questions on the page. | | To split a long survey page into smaller pages, click the [Split Page Here] button in the location you would like the page split into two pages and the following questions are moved to the next page. |
|
Note:
| It's a good idea to add a few page breaks to your survey, because the responses for each page are saved only when respondents click the Next or Previous link and successfully advance to a new page. We call this Real Time Saving: Responses save only for saved pages. | | |
| | | What happens if a respondent clicks the exit survey link without clicking next? When respondents exit the survey, your results are saved for only those pages that have been saved. Therefore, if you have a single page survey, there's a chance respondents will select all of their responses and click the Exit Survey link or close the browser instead of the Done button. In that case, no responses would be recorded for those respondents. Another issue with a single page survey is required question. |
| |
| Single page surveys and required questions: | | | If you have set required questions or text validation, responses cannot be saved until they have all been answered correctly. With a single page survey, there's a strong chance, respondents may miss some and never save any responses. | | To split pages, click the [Split Page Here] button. When doing so, a page break is then added and the following questions are moved to the next page. |
|
 | To Delete a Page | | Click the [Delete] button beside the page number. This will open the Delete Page Confirmation window. When deleting a page, you have the option of deleting all of the questions on the page or moving them to another page! |
| | Select to delete all of the questions on the page or move them to the previous page or the next page. After making your selection, click [Yes, Delete Page] to confirm the page deletion. | | To Copy Pages and/or Questions | | Click the [Copy] button above the question text. Clicking the [Copy] button populates [Paste Question Here] buttons throughout your survey. Just click the [Past Question Here] button in the new location for the question. The question will then be copied to that location. Pages can be copied in the same way. |
 | To Delete a Question | | Click the [Delete] button above the question text. This will open a confirmation window to confirm that you really wish to delete the question. The confirmation window for deleting questions displays the page title, question number, and the question text for confirmation. Deleting a question will permanently remove all responses for the question!
To permanently delete the question and responses, click [Yes, Delete Question]. (You may restore the question, but it is not possible to restore the deleted responses. |
|
 | Restore Questions | |

| To Restore Deleted questions, click the [Restore Questions] Button to open the “Restore Questions" page. |
Deleted questions must be restored within 14 days of deletion.
Click the [Restore] button, left navigation buttons, to restore the deleted question. Clicking the [Restore] button will populate [Restore Questions Here] buttons throughout your survey. Select the placement for the restored question by clicking [Restore Questions Here] in the location you would like to restore the question. |
