 | Open Versus Closed Collector Icons | | The Collector icons on your My Surveys page change colors based on the Collector Status. If the Collector icon is Red the survey has no open collectors and is not collecting responses. When the Collector icon is Blue, the survey is open and actively collecting response. |
|
 If you have multiple Collectors collecting responses, please close all of the Collectors to fully close your survey. |
| Collector Status |
Open:  | The Collector is open for Collecting responses. |
Closed:  | The Collector is closed and cannot collect responses. Instead of opening your survey, respondents that access your survey receive the closed message set for the Collector. |
| To close your survey, click the Collect icon for the survey and then click the Open Collector box (see examples below). |
 | Open/Close the Collector(s) for the Survey Individually | | You can Open and Close your survey by the survey Collector. |

 | To open the Collectors page for your survey, click the Collect icon. (The Collectors page displays all of the Collectors for the survey and each status: open or closed.) |

To Close a Collector 
Click the [Close the Collector] button on the "Collector Summary" page.

| Open and close Collectors directly from the Collectors page: |
| To close the Collector, click the open box for the Collector. |
| To open the Collector, click the closed box. |
 Because the collectors work independently of each other, you may close one, while leaving another open! This allows you to continue collecting responses with the open collector, but prevents respondents' access to the closed collector. |
| What is a closed collector? |
| When the collector is closed, respondents will not be able to take the survey, instead they receive the survey closed message when accessing the survey link. |
 | Why is my collector closed? |
| If the Collector closes and you have not changed the setting to closed, then a Set Restriction for the Collector has been met. When clicking the collector box () on the Collector Summary page to open the collector does not open the collector, a restriction like the cut off date or maximum response count for basic account Collectors (100) has been met. Click the Collector Title to open the Collector Summary page to see the warning message display explaining why you cannot open the collector. |

 | Edit the Survey Closed Message |
| When you select to close a collector, the Close Collector confirmation dialog box opens asking if you want to "Block people from accessing your survey?" with the current closed survey message for the collector. To change the closed survey message, change the text in this box to update the message respondents see when clicking the link for the survey after the collector has been closed. 
Click [Stop Collecting Now] to close the collector and save the closed response message. Click [Cancel] to close the dialog box and continue collecting responses. |
