How do I download/print comments, e.g., into a PDF?

Every export format available to Professional subscribers includes open-ended comments. However, depending on how you need to present the data, e.g., in a meeting, in a publication, online, etc., then you will want to decide which option works best for your needs.

The following topic discusses each of these in detail and how you can best utilize them for presenting data:

  1. PDF
  2. Excel Format
  3. CSV Format
  4. XML
  5. HTML
  6. All Responses Collected

PDF Option:

You can export comments into a PDF. Due to potentially large file sizes, questions with open-ended replies must be exported individually. If you need to create a report that includes comments and all of the questions, please do the following:

Step 1:

Export the full PDF that includes all of the questions.

  • Click the [Analyze] icon > Choose Summary Report > Select PDF Format
  • This gives you one file of all the questions and answer choices without the open-ended responses.

Step 2:

Individually export any questions with comments.

  • View the following topic that provides step-by-step instruction on how to do this: Download individual questions
  • Each download gives you a PDF of only those comments.

Additional Export Options:

Each question is presented on its own tabbed worksheet. To progress to the next survey question, simply click the Question Number tab located on the bottom of the spreadsheet.  (To view an example, visit the following topic: Read Excel).

arrow.gif  CSV Format:

This format presents one summary file of all the tallied numbers and total response counts. Any question that has comments will be in its own spreadsheet file.

This option allows either a condensed or expanded actual text export format. Open-ended comments are included within this one spreadsheet.

There is one main summary file. Then any question that has text replies will download into a separate file.

Select the "Include Open-Ended Responses in Download" option. When the data downloads you see Open-Ended HTML files and a Survey Summary file.
