How do I manually input responses (data entry)?

There are several ways to manually add responses to a survey. All methods do require an Internet connection as we do not allow direct data uploads.

  • Create a Data Entry Web Link collector.
  • Add responses within an existing Web Link.
  • Add a response through the Email Invitation collector.

 

A. Data Entry collector:

As a Professional subscriber, you can create a link that will loop the survey back to the start every time an entry is made.

Through this method:

  • Data entry people do not need to login to your personal account. 
  • This group can simply copy and paste the provided link into a web browser's address bar.  
  • Every time the [Done] button is clicked, it will immediately loop to a blank survey for a new response.

B. Adding Responses within a Current Web Link:

Professional and Basic subscribers can add responses directly into an existing Web Link collector. This is good if you need to enter a handful of responses and you are the account holder:

 

Step 1:

Click the [Collect] icon for that survey to open the collectors' page. Next, click on the title of the Web Link collector.

 

Step 2:

The collector summary page opens. Select the [Manual Data Entry] button on the left side of the page:

NOTE: This button is not active inside an Email Invitation collector.  

 

Step 3:

Click the [Add New Response] button on the upper right hand side of the page:

Step 4:

Once the new response is added, the date and start/modified times are presented.

  • Whenever you access the [Manual Data Entry] button for that Collector, the date information is visible on this page.
  • You can also go back and [Edit] or [Delete] a response. 
  • Click the [Add New Response] button again to enter in a new response.

C. Adding a Response for an Email Address:

This option enables you to enter a response for an email address on behalf of the participant. *This option is only available if you have created an Email Invitation collector.

 

Step 1: Click on the [Collect] icon next to the survey on the My Surveys page.

Step 2: Select the collector that houses the email list, and click on the [Edit Recipients] button on the left side of the screen.

Step 3: Click on the email address in the list that you would like to manually add a response.

Step 4: This opens a prompt window. Select the [Add Response] button.

Step 5: Scroll through the survey and fill it out on the participant's behalf.

 Important: No Automated Upload:

If you have an Excel spreadsheet of responses, we currently do not allow you to upload or import that data into the Analyze section. You will need to have an online version of the survey created in our system. You can use any of these methods to individually enter each response.
